For bench regulation of the let-off, and as an aid when installing grand hammers.

Measure the distance from the key-bed to the strings at the end of each section, or set trials in the piano. The adjustable 19 1/2" rail will thus take the place of the strings to assure an accurate method of regulating let-off on the bench in the shop.
